Q. When and Where will the Event take place?

Date: Friday, October 24, 2024

Time: 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Location: Lightwell Building lobby | 1100 Main Street, Kansas City, MO 64105

Q: What about parking?

The Lightwell Building has covered parking that is included with your ticket. Just follow the signs or the directions from our Event staff who will be on hand to assist you.

 

Q. What should I wear?

This year's theme is "Costume Casino Night" so have fun with a preview of your Halloween costume. But no costumes required! Business casual attire is great too. You can expect to see everything from costumes, to jeans, to sequins!

Q. Is food and drink included?

Yes! Guests will enjoy free reign over our all-night open bar and full buffet of heavy hors d’oeuvres that will be more than enough for dinner. The bar will feature wine, beer, premium liquors, seltzers, featured cocktail and a featured mocktail along with several non-alcoholic options.

Q. Do I need to bring cash?

Bringing cash is suggested for tipping bartenders and buying raffle tickets or additional gaming chips. Credit Cards will also be accepted at the event.

Q. How do I sponsor the Event?

Sponsors each receive a certain number of free tickets and other benefits that increase with the level of sponsorship. Click here for Sponsorship Opportunities.

Q. Are donations tax deductible?

Missouri Boys State is a not-for-profit, charitable, tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization. The organization relies on community-minded corporations and individuals who are interested in investing in our democracy to sponsor this worthwhile program. 

​

Q. How will the money we raise benefit the students who attend Boys State?

All proceeds from the event will be used to underwrite and improve the Boys State experience for all participants. Funds will be used to ensure that Boys State participants have access to top-notch speakers from around the Country, to offset transportation expenses, and to provide best-in-class educational experiences to our participants.

Q. Is there a Girls State? Do they benefit as well?

Yes there is! And while this fundraiser is being planned by Missouri Boys State, our Boys State and Girls State programs are now co-hosted on the same campus at the same time. Much of the upgraded experiences that will be made possible for our Boys State “citizens” by the Event will also be enjoyed by Girls State participants as well. In the future, we hope to plan joint fundraising events to continue to strengthen this burgeoning partnership.

Q. What games will you have?

The casino will feature all of your favorite games, including Blackjack tables, Poker tables, Roulette wheels, Craps tables, plinko, and the ever popular Wine Toss, and other fun games. Our games will be staffed by  professional dealers who will be happy to teach you how to play.

Q. Is there real money on the line?

No. Your “gambling” winnings will be converted into prize tickets that you can redeem for a chance to take home one (or more!) of our fun prizes drawn over the course of the evening.

Q. What if I don’t know how to play?

No problem! All of the games are easy to learn, and our professional dealers enjoy teaching newbies the basics. No prior experience is needed. After all, they call it Beginner’s Luck for a reason!

Q. How do I win?

Winners will be able redeem their chips for prize tickets that can be entered to win a variety of prize baskets featuring unique items and fun experiences donated by our sponsors. Unused prize tickets may also be exchanged for the latest MBS logo gear.

​

Q. Do I have to stay until the end to win?

While you must be present to win any of our raffles and prize baskets, winners will be drawn throughout the evening at predetermined times that will be announced.

​

Q. What else will be going on besides gambling?

While the main attraction will be our Casino games, we will have plenty of other fun things to do, including enjoying a cocktail from our Open Bar, munching on delicious food from our complimentary buffet, enjoying fun music from our live band, participating in a variety of raffle drawings over the course of the evening, or just sitting down and relaxing in a fun environment and chatting with friends—old and new!

Q. Is there a silent auction?

There is not a silent auction at this fundraising event.  Instead, you will have the chance to either exchange your tickets for premium MBS logo gear or put your tickets on the line for a chance to win one of our raffles or many prize baskets.

Q. Can I get more chips?

Absolutely! Additional chips are available for a suggested donation of $20. Feel free to buy-in for as many chips as you need to keep rolling all night long.
